Director of Operations - full-time (apply in person or online)

Amtran is seeking an experienced and dependable person to join our team as the Director of Operations.

This position is responsible for the oversight and management of the daily operations of Amtran. This is a full-time, 5-days-per-week, salaried position. Additional hours may be required to meet deadlines or during peak periods.

Essential functions of the position include helping to advance Amtran’s strategic business plan by developing and achieving one, three, seven, and 20-year goals, ensuring ongoing compliance with the FTA, PennDOT’s Bureau of Public Transportation, and other applicable regulations & guidance, and monitoring /adjusting service design & delivery to meet the needs of the community. This person will also be responsible for developing & achieving operational & financial performance goals for the Transportation department, as well as pursuing ongoing improvements to Amtran’s safety culture by monitoring costs, risk management, & claims management for property/ liability and workers’ compensation insurance.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidate should have knowledge of transportation systems management, state & federal laws pertaining to Authority activities, general financial management practices (budgeting, accounting, auditing), grants management, marketing & government relations, public administration, labor-management relations.

Salary range: $68,000-$72,000. Benefits include health insurance, vision & dental, STD/LTD, pension, paid vacation, sick, and personal time.

Bus Drivers - part-time (apply in person or online)

Most of AMTRAN’s employment opportunities are as bus drivers. Some of our drivers only stay at Amtran for a few years but many stick with us until they retire.

Our bus drivers start part-time at $28.95 per hour increasing to $32.16 per hour after 1 year. Drivers can move up to full-time positions with benefits as vacancies allow.

To apply, you must be at least 21 years old with a good driving record. A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required. We begin with 4-6 weeks of paid training. This is a safety-sensitive position and would be required to participate in pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening.

Maintenance Technician - full-time (apply in person or online)

Pay starts at $28.95 per hour increasing to $32.16 per hour after 1 year and also includes excellent health insurance as well as paid sick days, personal days, and vacation days.

Our maintenance technicians are responsible for ensuring that Amtran vehicles are in proper working order and in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as with Amtran procedures by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing repairs and preventive maintenance.

Applicants must have good mechanical training and/or experience in bus or medium/heavy duty vehicles. We prefer Class B commercial driver’s license with air brake and passenger endorsements if possible but we are willing to train. This is a safety sensitive position and would be required to participate in pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening.
