Technology (to make it easier to ride the bus)

myStop - We can tell you when your bus will be at your stop on your phone, smart phone, or on the web.  Or try our myStop app for Android and iOS.  You can download it for free at your App Store.

myStop app for iOS and Android

Amtran and our tech partner, Avail Technologies of State College, have developed a myStop app for both iOS and Android available as a free download at your App Store.  Using the app, you can plan your trip through Google Maps.  You can also find out when your bus will be at your stop in real time.  In addition, you can set an alert to remind you when the bus will arrive.

myStop logo in the App Store

Just search your App Store for "myStop" and look for the logo at the right.  (FYI, the exact same app works for CATA buses in State College.)

myStop via Text

Text "AT" and your bus stop number to 321123.  You will receive a return text telling you when the next bus will arrive in real time.  (Every bus stop in our system has its own number listed on the bus stop sign, on printed schedules, and on our website www.amtran.org.)

For example at the Hawthorne shelter, text AT206 to 321123.

myStop via Phone

Call 814-944-1200 and punch in your bus stop number.  The computer will tell you when the next bus will arrive in real time.

On the Web

Go to myStop on the top menu above. Then click your route and find your stop on the map. It will tell you when the next bus will arrive in real time.

Trip planning on Google Maps

Not sure how to get where you want to go using AMTRAN?  You can plan your trip through Google Maps.

Rider Alerts

We can tell you if your bus goes off route.

Sometimes road construction or bad weather means our buses can’t follow their regular routes. If you sign up for
Rider Alerts here on our website, we can alert you by e-mail or text message when your bus has to go off route. This is particularly important if you live at Nittany Pointe because if their maintenance crews do not clear the snow sufficiently, our buses will not go there. When this happens, we send out a Rider Alert so you can plan around it.

You, the customer, get to choose which bus routes you want to know about. You decide how you’ll receive the alert - by e-mail or by text. You can add routes, change alerts, or even cancel the service at any time.

Don’t miss an important class or event because of weather or detours. Give
Rider Alerts a try.

AMTRAN buses all have bike racks if you want to ride your bike to Martin's supermarket or to the Downtown Campus and then ride the bus back. For more information on how to use AMTRAN's bike rack, watch this video by Penn State Altoona alum, Sam Wagner.
